Laura Maria Florez studied Biology at the University Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) – Sorbonne University Paris VI university. She won the Amgen Scholarship during her second year of bachelor degree, and she joined the Amgens Scholar Program at Karolinska Institute in Sweeden and Cambridge University in the UK. She has a master in molecular and cellular biology and immunothechnology – biotherapies with an Erasmus Scholarship between the Universities UPMC Sorbonne University Paris VI and Hamburg University. During her master she won the Max Plank Institute of Immunology and epigenetics summer scholarship in Germany. She is Doctor of Immunology from UPMC Sorbonne University Paris VI with expertise in inflammatory diseases, immune tolerance and regulatory T cells.
She is passionated about innovation and a more holistic view of human medical research using new technologies as the ones derived fro next generation sequencing. She is working as a Post- doctorate researcher, investigating tissue resident regulatory T cells, their specificity and their immunoprofiling at the single cell level. Beside science, she is also engaged as an activist in feminism and human rights.
